Week 9- A Window of Hope

Happy 2021! We have had a pretty good start to the new year! We are still in quarantine here in Chorley, England at the MTC because of the new strain of corona that is sweeping the country here. We have not been able to do much still besides having lots of devotionals and lessons which has helped keep us occupied. It is still snowing here a lot which has been awesome! One of the groundskeepers here said that this is the most it has snowed in England for 3 years! It was also Elder Jensen's birthday this week which was awesome!
When it comes to us getting into Germany, there has been lots of news and complications, but also hope this week. On January 5th the Prime Minister made the announcement that England is going into a Tier 5 lockdown which hasn't happened since Corona first began. This basically means that we can only go outside if we are exercising, and sadly means that lots of the other European countries are hesitant to let anyone coming from England into their borders. On January 6th we were waiting to hear if Germany's borders were going to open or remain closed. It turns out that they decided to wait until this coming Monday to decide for sure, so we took a chance. They decided to send one companionship of elders (one of which was my MTC comp)  to see if they could get into Germany. We were scared and excited to hear what was going to happen, but they actually successfully made it in! Turns out though that Germany actually decided to keep their borders closed until January 20th as they were flying there, so they barely made it in time. That means though that we are still here. We don't know if we are going to somehow be able to get in too, but it sounds like we will temporarily be reassigned in England! They said we will hopefully be in our reassignments by next week.
Overall things are well here. It has definitely been an interesting experience being here for almost a whole month now, all the days blend together and it feels like we have been here forever. At least I am in Europe though! I definitely feel blessed to be here and have learned a lot. Hopefully I will have more exciting news next week!
Bis später!
