Mein Erster Tausch (My First Exchange)

Hallo everyone! Another great week here in Wettingen! It flew by!

We have had pretty consistent appointments with members again this week! I had my first dinner appointment with Familie Kamber from our ward! They were super nice, the food was great, and I actually understood some of what was being said! Turns out they actually know the Frishkenect family from my ward back home!

I went on my first exchange this week! For those who don't know, an exchange is when two companionships switch for a day. I went over to Zurich and was with Elder Albertson who is one of our Zone Leaders. We had an appointment with a Phillipino lady named Maricia! She was so sweet and polite and was so happy to have us there! It was my first time having Phillipino food, and it was good! I could tell she put lots of work into it. She asked us if we could give her a blessing because she was having surgery the next day, so we did. It was my first one on the mission so it was great! Later on we had an appointment with a man named Mark who is actually from New York so it was cool be able to talk with and teach him! I slept over at Elder Albertsons apartment which has been given the name "The Palace" because it is the biggest apartment in the whole mission. It is actually a 4 man apartment so there were two other elders, Elder Illskov and Catongi. The Palace has two floors, two balconies, and overall is just really big which was nice. Overall it was a great first exchange!

We still have not had success finding anyone new to teach which has been frustrating, but I found this quote this week which I liked. "Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase." -Martin Luther King Jr.

I know that as I keep doing my best to take the first steps and giving it my best effort, that the Lord will provide a way.

I love being out here on the mission! It is so cool! It has already helped me learn a lot about myself, others, the world, and the gospel. I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior and it is through His gospel that we can find joy in this life and the life to come.

Chao chao,
Elder Jarnagin
